Context

We are seeking a highly skilled Telecom SP – GSM-R to support the delivery of railway telecom systems in Cairo, Egypt. The role is responsible for reviewing the GSM-R design submitted by Siemens and ensuring successful integration, testing, optimization, and maintenance support of GSM-R communication systems used in railway operations.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Review GSM-R system design documents submitted by Siemens and provide technical comments and recommendations.
  • Support the integration, testing, commissioning, optimization, and maintenance of GSM-R systems for railway operations.
  • Ensure reliable and compliant voice and data communication between trains, control centers, and trackside systems.
  • Coordinate GSM-R interfaces with signaling systems, ETCS infrastructure, and other railway subsystems.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and support corrective actions.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to enhance coverage, quality, and reliability.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, test reports, interface documents, and maintenance records.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including telecom, signaling, operations, and project stakeholders.

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in GSM-R systems within railway or metro projects.
  • Strong knowledge of GSM/GSM-R architecture and protocols.
  • Experience in radio network planning and optimization.
  • Good understanding of railway operational communication systems.
  • Familiarity with ETCS, signaling interfaces, and interoperability concepts.
  • Experience in testing, integration, and maintenance support of telecom systems.
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
