Context

As key member of Lead Consultant for the client, the Track Engineer will be primarily responsible for providing technical review, assurance, and coordination for trackwork systems during the design and project delivery stages, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, safety criteria, and interface integration needs

Missions/Main Duties

Main duties:

  • Technical Design Review : Perform comprehensive technical review and assess trackwork design submittals. The review will include alignment and related submissions (horizontal and vertical alignment, comprehensive cross-sections) as well as Trackwork (ballastless track structures, ballasted track, pitted track in depots, turnouts and crossovers, rail expansion joints, buffer stops, track transition zones).
  • Interface Coordination : Coordinate and manage technical interfaces between trackwork and related civil structures (viaducts, tunnels, stations-underground and elevated, depot) as well as railway systems (signaling, traction power supply, rolling stocks).
  • High Speed Rail (HSR) Standard Assurance : Verify that track designs comply with the applicable regulation and international standard for High-Speed Rail. Provide technical expertise to ensure project specifications meet High-Speed Rail projects requirements.
  • Risk & Quality Assurance : Identify project risks related to alignment, trackwork and their interfaces and propose mitigation measures. Report and monitor progress of trackwork related design and construction contracts, lead regular meetings with the trackwork’s contractors. Participate in the preparation of the project management plans.
  • Procurement and Construction : Prepare Terms Of References for trackwork related contracts and review tender documents and submissions. Review documentation submitted during construction, provide technical advice for construction issues, develop and review trackwork related construction schedule.
  • Technical Advisory : Provide general technical support to the client and its contractors to respond to technical queries related to Trackwork and Alignment.

Frequent visits to HCMC during construction phase.

Profile/Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Railway Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience required:

  • Essential:
  • Minimum 8 – 10 years of civil/railway engineering experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to track design or track construction review for high-speed rail or urban mass rapid transit (MRT) systems.
  • Experience with ballastless track (slab track) technology, continuous welded rail (CWR) and knowledge of trackwork related international railway standards (EN, UIC) is highly desirable. Knowledge of Vietnamese national standards (TCVN, QCVN) is recommended.
  • The Track Engineer shall be pro-active individual able to work closely with the other members of the LC team. The Track Engineer shall possess a strong knowledge of trackwork technical discipline with the ability to step back in order to recommend robust and practicable technical solutions.
  • Languages:
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English is required.
  • Vietnamese proficiency is a plus.
