Context

Are you an experienced rail engineer who thrives at the intersection of complex design and site-level project execution?

At BG&E, we empower our people to lead technical excellence and solve challenging engineering problems. We are looking for a Senior Rail Engineer with strong CSR experience to lead project packages, mentor team members, and drive delivery across landmark rail initiatives.

Missions/Main Duties

As a Senior Rail Engineer, you will lead the technical design and site support for multi-disciplinary rail infrastructure projects. Leveraging your CSR expertise, you will ensure high quality standards on-site, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and guide junior engineers through technical design and construction interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead track engineering design packages from concept through to detailed design and construction support.

  • Perform CSR responsibilities, acting as the primary engineering reference point on-site to inspect works, manage design variations, and resolve technical issues.

  • Drive stakeholder engagement with rail authorities, contractors, client delivery teams, and third parties.

  • Conduct constructability reviews, safety-in-design assessments, and quality audits.

  • Mentor and develop intermediate and graduate engineers within the rail team.

Profile/Skills

What You’ll Bring

  • 7+ years of civil/rail engineering experience, with a proven track record delivering Australian rail projects.

  • Solid background in site representation, construction phase support, and interface management on live rail corridors.

  • In-depth knowledge of rail standards (e.g., TfNSW/ASA, ARTCS, V/Line, or QR standards) and rail delivery frameworks.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to negotiate outcomes between design offices and site teams.

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant degree and CPEng
