Context

The QA/QC Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Assurance and Quality Control system for the Alexandria Tram Project. The role ensures that all project activities, deliverables, materials, workmanship, and documentation comply with SYSTRA Egypt standards, client requirements, contract specifications, applicable codes, and relevant regulatory requirements. The QA/QC Manager supports successful project delivery by promoting a culture of quality, continuous improvement, and right-first-time execution across all project disciplines.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Management Plan in line with company, client, and contractual requirements.
  • Establish project QA/QC procedures, quality objectives, inspection and test plans, and control processes.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, technical specifications, approved drawings, method statements, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor project activities to verify that construction, installation, testing, and commissioning works meet defined quality standards.
  • Review and approve quality documentation submitted by contractors and subcontractors, including inspection requests, method statements, material submittals, and test reports.
  • Coordinate inspections and witness points with project teams, contractors, consultants, and client representatives.
  • Manage non-conformance reports, site observations, corrective actions, and preventive actions to ensure timely resolution and closure.
  • Conduct internal quality audits and participate in external audits by clients, certification bodies, or authorities as required.
  • Monitor laboratory testing, field testing, material approvals, and workmanship inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Ensure that all quality records, test certificates, inspection reports, and handover dossiers are properly maintained and controlled.
  • Support supplier and subcontractor quality evaluations and performance monitoring.
  • Track quality KPIs and prepare periodic quality reports for project management and the client.
  • Promote continuous improvement and lessons learned across the project.
  • Support project teams during testing, commissioning, snagging, and final acceptance activities.

Profile/Skills

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant QA/QC experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a QA/QC managerial or leadership quality role.
  • Proven experience on large construction, rail, tram, metro, or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with quality management systems, audits, inspections, and testing processes.
  • Experience in contractor and subcontractor quality oversight.
  • Good knowledge of international and local standards, contract specifications, and project documentation requirements.
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC systems and ISO 9001 principles.
  • Good knowledge of construction quality control, inspections, and testing requirements.
  • Ability to review technical documents, specifications, ITPs, method statements, and test results.
  • Experience in non-conformance management and root cause analysis.
  • Strong audit and reporting skills.
  • Effective coordination with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Good command of English and written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality/document management systems.
