SYSTRA is looking for a seasoned Electrical Engineer to contribute to our ongoing Train Control Modernization program with our client in the Oakland area. Position requires working on-site in the various client facilities in the Oakland / San Francisco Bay area. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare electrical specifications and functional designs for commercial electric power systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable industry standards.
• Apply advanced design principles to prepare deliverables for the selection and installation of power distribution equipment, grounding, lighting, control systems, and equipment for both new builds and renovations.
• Analyze complex engineering problems and deliver effective, efficient solutions under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Develop comprehensive electrical construction bid documents.
• Perform electrical power and lighting calculations.
• Oversee construction-related administration, including submittal reviews and RFI responses.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all applicable regional and national electrical codes and standards.
• Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, including AutoCAD and MicroStation, to develop technical drawings.
• Manage project lifecycles, including scope defining, scheduling, budget tracking, and stakeholder reporting.
• Witness and verify testing and commissioning activities in the field.
• Actively maintain technical proficiency and design expertise in traction power equipment.
• Conduct site investigations and walkdowns safely in high-voltage substations and along electrified railway rights-of-way.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
• Hands-on proficiency with electrical distribution modeling software, such as ETAP or SKM.
• California Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE).
• Understanding of utility system operations and distribution design.
• LEED accredited professional.
• Direct experience working with on Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) projects.
• Demonstrated experience working with electrified railway or transit systems.

Salary Range: $142,500 - $155,800, SYSTRA USA is providing the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and/or offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
