Context

We are seeking applications for the position of Design Manager (System & MEPF) for Chattrapati Shivaji railway station redevelopment project based at Mumbai, Maharashtra. 

 

The scope of work of this PMS Contract broadly comprises overseeing the execution of various works components related to the Redevelopment of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway Station and construction of associated Infrastructure including but not limited to Layout Plans/ Drawings of different proposed structures, Design & Drawing Review, Architectural controls, Quality Assurance, SHE Compliances, Interface Management, Project Progress Monitoring, Invoice Certification, Conservation & Restoration of Heritage Buildings, Vibration, Noise & Acoustics controls for all structures, Installation, Testing & Commissioning and Hand Over etc.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Design Management:
    • Lead and manage the design development of systems and MEPF, ensuring that they meet the technical requirements of the project.
    • Review and ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations for all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
    • Coordinate with the architectural and structural design teams to integrate MEPF systems seamlessly into the overall station design.
    • Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of all design deliverables, including drawings, technical specifications, and calculations.
    • Ensure that all designs are energy-efficient, sustainable, and aligned with green building principles.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and other key project stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination of MEPF systems during the construction phase.
    • Liaise with the client, project management team, and other relevant authorities to secure necessary approvals.
    • Participate in design meetings, progress reviews, and coordination sessions to address any design-related issues or concerns.
  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure that all MEPF systems designs adhere to the highest quality standards.
    • Conduct regular design reviews and audits to ensure compliance with project goals and contractual requirements.
    • Identify and resolve design discrepancies and challenges in a timely manner.
  • Budget and Cost Management:
    • Collaborate with the cost control team to ensure that all MEPF systems are designed within budgetary constraints.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement value engineering practices without compromising on quality or functionality.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including design drawings, reports, calculations, and technical specifications.
    • Provide regular progress reports to the Project Director and other stakeholders, outlining key milestones, issues, and risks related to the MEPF design.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Experience in railway station redevelopment or similar large-scale infrastructure projects.
    • Knowledge of energy-efficient systems and sustainable design practices.
    • Experience in working on government or public sector projects with multi-disciplinary teams.
    • Ensure that all designs comply with safety regulations, fire codes, and other statutory requirements.
    • Work closely with safety teams to incorporate safety features in MEPF designs, particularly for fire protection systems and emergency protocols.

Profile/Skills

Skills:

  • B.Tech /M.Tech in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • 8 Years of experience.
  • Proficiency in MEPF design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other relevant tools.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international standards (e.g., IS codes, NFPA, IEC, etc.).
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences.
  • Ability to problem solve, especially in an integrated project delivery environment, applying industry best practices.
  • Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority.
  • Strong leadership skills, proven ability to lead a team effort & make independent decisions and be a good troubleshooter.
