Join Our Team at SYSTRA as a Principal Engineer - Bridges.

Are you a dedicated and ambitious engineer with a passion for bridging design and project delivery? SYSTRA has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer to join our Bridges Engineering team. If you excel in leadership, interpersonal skills, and commercial awareness, we want you to be part of our high-performance team.

Focused on the design of Conventional Rail and High-Speed Rail infrastructure, this role also supports various Product Lines both in the UK and overseas. Based in Birmingham, you’ll collaborate with UK engineers on diverse projects and enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working while spending significant time at our client offices on site.

Missions/Main Duties

 

The Principal Engineer will be accountable for the design delivery of allocated engineering work packages, ensuring:

  • Delivery of all the specified project outcomes on time, within budget and to the client’s specifications
  • Project requirements are fully met
  • Technically sound design solutions are produced, including all associated reporting and cost estimating, to programme and within budget
  • Identifying and delivering solutions
  • Compliance with all relevant technical standards
  • Advice and guidance is provided for staff, and professional development is actively pursued
  • Good relationships are maintained with all external parties to enhance the reputation of the company

Profile/Skills

 

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer
  • Experience of carrying out Network Rail CRE role in bridge design across a range of structure types
  • Experience of providing technical leadership to design teams
  • Development and leadership of developing teams
  • Experience of working on Network Rail Bridge Assessments an advantage but not essential
