Context

The Project Director will be the Employers Representative on the Project with delegated authority as per the Contract or as directed in writing from the Client. The Project Director will take overall responsibility for the Consultant’s delivery performance against the agreed objectives and in addition will provide advice, mentoring and strategic support to the Client team. 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Project Leadership: Provide overall leadership and direction to the project team, ensuring successful project execution and the achievement of key milestones.
  • Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement strategic project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, government officials, contractors, and operators.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical expert in BRT projects, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, identifying discrepancies, and solving problems by modifying standard approaches where necessary. Ensure project work aligns with established engineering procedures.
  • Budget & Financial Control: Manage the project’s financial performance, including monitoring expenditures, controlling costs, and ensuring that the project stays within budget.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation and management of contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring that terms and conditions are met.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks to project timelines, budgets, and quality through proactive risk management strategies.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance: Ensure that all project activities comply with relevant HSE regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all staff and contractors.
  • Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to executive leadership and stakeholders, including financial updates, schedule adherence, and risk assessments.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop project team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Chartered Engineer/Professional Engineer is a must
  •  Minimum of 20 years of experience in major infrastructure projects with emphasis of at least 10 years experience in the operations and the delivery of Bus Rapid Transit projects.
  • Strong understanding of Saudi regulations, local infrastructure challenges, and industry best practices will be preferred
  • Minimum relevant 5 years experience in Middle East
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and teams.
  • Financial acumen, with experience in managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
