We are expanding our Water teams in the UK, we have a strong forward workload delivering high profile infrastructure projects.

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our UK Water Resources team across our UK offices, by recruiting an experienced Hydraulic Modeller, predominantly working on Rainwater Management and SuDS projects with the aim of reducing flood risk and enhancing watercourse quality.

Your role will involve working with the senior modellers to undertake hydraulic modelling activities, including performing hydraulic modelling, flood risk assessment, and the evaluation of nature-based solutions such as permeable surfaces, swales, and retention catchments. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate sustainable solutions that help reduce the impact of urbanisation on natural water cycles and contribute to the region's long-term climate resilience.

You will play a key role in developing innovative and resilient nature-based solutions, such as Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), green infrastructure, and wetlands, that address urban drainage challenges and contribute to flood risk reduction.

Working in collaboration with our designers and contract partners, the Junior Hydraulic Modelling Engineer will be involved in a variety of tasks such as, but not limited to:

• Hydraulic Modelling Support:
• Assist in the development, calibration, and validation of hydraulic models (e.g., InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller, TuFlow).
• Support the simulation of rainfall-runoff processes, flood scenarios, and urban drainage systems.
• Provide data analysis to inform hydraulic modelling activities and design decisions.
• Nature-Based Solutions Design Support:
• Assist in the design and analysis of SuDS and green infrastructure solutions such as swales, rain gardens, and retention basins.
• Support the evaluation of the hydraulic performance of these solutions and assist in ensuring their integration into urban drainage systems.
• Flood Risk Assessment Support:
• Aid in conducting flood risk assessments and help develop strategies to mitigate potential flooding.
• Contribute to the incorporation of climate change projections into modelling to ensure long-term resilience.
• Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations, contributing to the communication of findings to the team and stakeholders.
• Manage project-related correspondence and help with data input and output processing.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
• Work closely with the Senior Hydraulic Modeller, multidisciplinary design teams, and external stakeholders (e.g., water companies, local authorities).
• Provide technical input and help ensure that modelling results align with project goals and regulatory requirements.

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Water/Rivers related field such as Geography/Civil Engineering, or
• HNC/HND in Related Field such as Geography with significant experience in Water Sector.
• Experience working in the Water Sector with a proven track record in undertaking the technical delivery of Rainwater Management, Rivers and/or SuDS projects.
• Understanding of the principles of SuDS design, Flood Risk Management and Nature Based Solutions.

Professional Memberships

• Commitment to gaining Chartered Water Manager, Chartered Environmentalist, status if not already achieved.

• Analytical Skills:
• Ability to assist in scenario testing, data analysis, and the development of hydraulic models.
• Knowledge of GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial analysis is a plus.
• Knowledge Areas:
• Basic understanding of UK water industry regulations and environmental standards.
• Awareness of climate change impacts on urban water systems and the principles of climate resilience.
