Context

We are seeking an experienced PSD Engineer to join our team for Metro projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of Platform Screen Doors (PSD) systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international safety standards.

Missions/Main Duties

  • To manage all activities of the Metro Systems D&B Contractor(s) related to designing, procuring, integration, installing and testing of PSD System equipment.
  • To be the key technical focal point for all matters relating to the Design, implementation and delivery of the Project PSD System.
  • To lead the, PSD System from a technical expertise base and to have a proactive role resolve issues and for the timely system delivery.
  • Review of the Employers Requirements and the Contractors functionality for feasibility and correctness and to provide recommendations for amendment.
  • To assist in the development of process and procedure to ensure the consistency and quality of the approach through design and into manufacture, testing and commissioning.
  • Manage the performance and quality of the design work by the Systems and the monitoring of progress against the agreed programme of works.
  • Review the PSD System design Submissions, PSD System architecture, infrastructure, equipment layout, interface requirements, equipment and material Submissions for the PSD equipment and to recommend to the Engineer the appropriate approval status.
  • To coordinate the PSD System design process including the interchange of interface information, technical clarifications and technical information (RFI), design changes (RFC) and design variances between the Systems Contractor, the Civil Works Contractor for each line and the System Design and Delivery teams.
  • To actively engage with all external stakeholders and to obtain and manage their requirements and expectations with the Systems Contractor.
  • To identify project risks and to manage the implementation and verification of the agreed mitigation measures
  • During manufacture co-ordinate / witness factory tests and inspections as applicable of the equipment and Systems and evaluate their performance.
  • During the site installation to inspect the equipment, structures or materials and later supervise the Site Installation, Acceptance and Integration testing. Evaluate test information, test and inspection reports, to ensure conformity to industry practices and project requirements and to recommend the appropriate approval status.
  • To undertake RFI and RFC reviews, to participate in regular project workshops and meetings as necessary or required to address queries and provide the appropriate response and or approvals.
  • To take an active and participating role and work closely with all of the System Discipline Engineers to ensure that the project PSD System requirements are clearly presented and interfaced by all discipline Engineers in the rail core System design reviews.
  • To provide reports and deliver measurement metrics on the ongoing completion of the project PSD System and to guide the Contractor in the timeliest and appropriate delivery of all status reports and other metrics.
  • To maintain his own records for the status of each activity under his direct management and to evaluate, present and share all such information and Contractor reports with the Senior Management of the Employer and Engineer of the Project in a clear and concise manner.
  • Review and/or prepare various reports and other correspondence related to project technical issues, schedules, interfaces and related Systems engineering plans for the design and supply installation of the System equipment.
  • To assist and support the Project quality control/quality assurance and safety assurance and certification processes, liaise with the Project ISA in the achievement of all RAMS targets and goals and in the timely completion of all designs etc. necessary to achieve Operational Certification.

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or a related field.
  • Previous experience of large scale, multiline Metro Platform Screen Door systems and associated control system design and construction.
  • Electro – Mechanical Engineer by training
  • Knowledge of electrical installation, codes and standards and earthing practices
  • Knowledge of the PSD system architecture, interfaces with other metro systems, network design and integration
  • Knowledge of EN 1991 – Eurocode – ‘Actions on structures’
  • Knowledge of Functional Safety, SIL based systems – IEC 61508
  • Knowledge of ‘Top Down’ design approach, systems interfaces and integration
  • 10 year’s experience in as similar role
  • On site construction, inspection, testing and commissioning experience.
  • Good communication skills
