Context

We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer with extensive experience in major infrastructure projects, preferably within the railway industry, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing and/or supervising the construction of railway maintenance facilities and associated infrastructure. This role emphasizes civil engineering expertise in the context of large-scale railway operations, with a particular focus on ensuring that maintenance facilities are well-integrated into the broader railway system.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead the civil engineering supervision for railway maintenance facilities, including depots, workshops, storage yards, and other essential infrastructure.
  • Manage and oversee the execution of major infrastructure projects related to maintenance facilities, ensuring design integrity, constructability, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and project staff, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality work.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate civil works within broader railway network designs
  • Oversee the technical aspects of the design, focusing on geotechnical, structural, drainage, and transport elements critical to the functionality of maintenance facilities.
  • Ensure the integration of maintenance facilities with operational railway systems, considering factors like accessibility, track alignment, maintenance equipment requirements, and safety
  • Provide expertise in how maintenance facilities should be designed to ensure operational efficiency, including alignment with operational schedules, equipment needs, and future expansion.
  • Ensure compliance with international and local standards, regulations, and best practices in civil engineering and railway operations
  • Monitor and enforce quality control procedures to maintain high standards of engineering design and construction.
  • Conduct inspections of construction activities, reviewing both design execution and the performance of contractors and subcontractors.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure that the design and execution of maintenance facilities align with project goals and client requirements.
  • Attend project meetings, manage project documentation, and provide regular status updates to clients and senior management.
  • Work with stakeholders to resolve technical issues and mitigate risks that could affect the design, schedule, or budget.

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in major infrastructure projects preferably in the railway indsutry with emphasis on maintenance facilities as part of a supervision or design team
  • Have completed at least one design-build transit project within the last 10 years
  • Should have completed at least one design-build transit project within the last 10 years
  • Have work experience in Saudi Arabia or another GCC country
  • Hold a professional registration in engineering.
