Context

As the Systems Manager, you will be the key individual responsible for overseeing the performance of railway systems, ensuring they meet operational, maintenance, and safety standards. You will manage a range of projects related to the railway system, from design and implementation to ongoing maintenance and performance monitoring. Your role will require strong stakeholder management, both internal and external, to ensure alignment on operational objectives, standards, and timelines.

Missions/Main Duties

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Operations Management:
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of railway systems, ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable service delivery.
    • Ensure effective integration between various systems, including signaling, communication, power supply, and rolling stock.
    • Monitor system performance, identifying and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Maintenance Strategy and Execution:
    • Develop and implement maintenance plans for railway infrastructure, rolling stock, and related systems.
    • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules and emergency repair protocols.
    • Support the continuous improvement of maintenance processes and procedures to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
  • Stakeholder and Interface Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for key internal and external stakeholders, including engineering teams, operational staff, regulatory bodies, suppliers, and contractors.
    • Facilitate effective communication between all parties, ensuring requirements, timelines, and performance expectations are clearly understood and met.
    • Manage cross-functional teams to ensure project goals and timelines are achieved, including liaising with senior management and operational teams to provide updates on progress and issues.
  • Project Management and Process Improvement:
    • Lead and manage projects aimed at improving operational efficiency, system upgrades, and asset management.
    • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and in line with quality standards.
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reductions, and technological innovations in railway operations and maintenance.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards for railway operations and maintenance.
    • Lead initiatives to promote safety awareness and ensure operational safety protocols are strictly followed.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to maintain high standards of safety and compliance.

Profile/Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in railway operations and/or maintenance management.
  • Proven track record of managing complex railway systems and infrastructure, ideally with experience in both operational and maintenance aspects.
  • Strong project management experience, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and external contractors.Strong knowledge of railway systems, including rolling stock, signaling, electrification, and track infrastructure.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex systems and resolve issues promptly.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in the railway industry.
  • Experience with asset management and lifecycle management of railway systems.
  • Certifications related to railway operations, systems management, or maintenance engineering. 
  • Experience with railway automation, SCADA systems, and IT solutions used in railway operations.
  • Saudi nationals preferred
