Context

As a Senior Project Manager you will be accountable for ensuring all construction project management activities are successfully executed. We are looking for Senior Project Managers who are experienced in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Heavy Rail
  • Rail Infrastructure and Heavy Civil.
  • Utilities.
  • Industrial, Commercial, Institutional (ICI).
  • Mechanical and Electrical.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Oversee the delivery of the technical milestones and phases for the successful completion of medium to large complex transportation projects;
  • Collaborate and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams of project managers, engineers, designers, inspectors, environmental specialists, and other staff under a partnership, joint venture or sub-consultancy as required;
  • Liaise with clients, owners, stakeholders and project team;
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status and project quality, and proactively resolve issues;
  • Review design drawings, specifications and other project documentation for compliance, completeness, and coordination;
  • Assign actions to design team for improvement, corrective measures as required to complete in time and on budget;
  • Prepare presentation materials including PowerPoint presentations;
  • Manage resolution of project issues, identification of mitigation measures;
  • Review and analyze project workplans and schedules for activities, milestones, and critical path and recommend work/design teams
  • Manage preparation of proposals including project resourcing, comprehensive and realistic scope of work, complete and accurate fee estimate, in a format suitable for obtaining the required management approvals, in collaboration with the Proposal Manager and the Commercial Manager;
  • As a leader, provide mentoring, assistance, encouragement and motivation to team members, including assisting the Manager of Engineering - Alternative Delivery, with establishment of development and performance goals
  • Commitment to work with the AD team to ensure strict adherence to the WSP Health and Safety policies, safe work practices and procedures, leading by example in participation in training and executing project health and safety plan.

Profile/Skills

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or equivalent discipline.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the rail industry
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in civils construction, track, buildings, Utilities, M&E, or related disciplines is required.
  • General knowledge of non-residential construction methods, building systems, and terminology.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
  • Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential, experience of using estimating software is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Skilled at building positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
