The Senior Tunnel Design Engineer will lead and support the design of underground works for metro rail projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of tunnels and associated structures, ensuring engineering excellence and compliance with all relevant codes and standards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile urban transport infrastructure.

• Lead and manage the design of tunnel structures for metro rail systems including bored tunnels (TBM), cut-and-cover tunnels, cross passages, and station boxes.
• Perform geotechnical and structural analysis for tunnel linings, temporary support systems, and excavation sequences.
• Review geological and geotechnical data to inform design assumptions and construction methods.
• Collaborate with alignment, station, track, and systems design teams to ensure interface coordination and integration.
• Prepare and oversee design deliverables including drawings, reports, specifications, and calculation packages.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications, local regulations, safety standards, and international best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary meetings.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and support construction.
• Conduct risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value engineering for tunnel design options.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in tunnel engineering, with at least 10 years in metro rail projects.
• Proven expertise in tunnel design methodologies (TBM, NATM, cut-and-cover, etc.) in urban environments.
• Proficient in relevant design software such as PLAXIS, FLAC, MIDAS, STAAD.Pro, or similar.
• Familiarity with metro rail codes and standards (e.g., AREMA, BS EN, Eurocode, Indian Railways, DMRC specs, etc.).
• Strong understanding of ground-structure interaction and construction techniques in soft ground and urban settings.
• Excellent project coordination, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferably with UAE or GCC Experience.
