Context

The Transportation Planning team is looking for a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst. The main mission of this analyst is to create and optimize GIS solutions to transform complex data into dynamic web visualizations. This involves integrating and automating data processes for greater efficiency and accuracy, and managing spatial data.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Design and implement GIS solutions using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, transforming complex data into dynamic, web-based visualizations that meet project needs;
  • Integrate spatial and tabular data (e.g., CAD, GPS, text) through ETL processes, convert data between formats (e.g., CAD to Shapefile), and maintain data accuracy while optimizing geodatabase performance for multi-user environments;
  • Automate GIS workflows and data processes using Python scripting and Power Automate to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance project delivery timelines;
  • Process and analyze LiDAR data, generate Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and utilize orthophotos to support topographic mapping, spatial analysis, and project visualization requirements;
  • Foster continuous knowledge sharing by mentoring colleagues, providing GIS training, and actively pursuing professional development to enhance team capabilities and advance career growth.

Profile/Skills

Education: University or college degree in IT, GIS, or geomatics. Another combination of equivalent training and experience may be considered. 

Years of experience: 2-3 years of experience in a similar role

Technical competencies:

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, Experience Builder, StoryMaps, and Survey123;
  • Strong data conversion skills (text, tabular, CAD, GIS formats);
  • Expertise in ETL processes, coordinate systems, spatial data management, and geodatabase creation;
  • Programming skills in Python and JavaScript, with experience in PostgreSQL, PostGIS, and GPS data integration;
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

Personal and soft skills:

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities ;
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, in French and English*.
