Context

Our Asia System Engineering Centre is a hub of railway systems expertise, dedicated to delivering exceptional projects both within Asia and on an international scale. As a key Centre of Competency for the SYSTRA Group, we pride ourselves on our ability to manage and support diverse projects across the globe. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Railway System Engineer to join our team, contributing to our growth in Hong Kong and enhancing our technical capabilities region-wide.

Missions/Main Duties

Within Asia’s Railway System Engineering Center, acts as a Railway system expert and work-package manager in design, tendering or execution phase for SYSTRA’s domestic and international projects.

May also act as project manager or technical lead for projects in Hong Kong, with the objective of ensuring that the results meet and surpass the customer’s expectations, are delivered on schedule and that project profitability targets are met.

 

Project Delivery

  • Studies: Conduct studies to define client needs and to elaborate solutions meeting their requirements (feasibility studies, concept design and tender design). Lead or participate in the design of solutions submitted to the client, including the preparation of reports and the preparation and validation of designs.
  • Tendering: Lead or participate in the preparation of technical specifications and tender documents for Railways Systems packages. Lead or participate in the entire procurement preparation process by providing assistance to the Client during the tender process, performing bid analysis and technical assistance to contracting.
  • Supervision/Certification: Provide assistance to the Client during the Procurement execution by performing design reviews, interface management, inspections during fabrication (including quality assurance/quality control), testing & commissioning (over both factory and on-site tests). The case may be, conduct or coordinate audit & assessment for independent certification services
  • Safety: Monitor safety aspects and alert on any subject related to technical or personal safety.

Internal and External Relationships:

  • Maintains direct contact with the client for the workpackage related topics, ensures client satisfaction and proactive follow-up
  • Interacts with other departments within the organization as well as with clients and suppliers in a professional way.
  • Fosters effective teamwork within SYSTRA project teams in Asia and from SYSTRA Group worldwide.

Profile/Skills

Education: A bachelor engineering degree, preferably in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, is the minimum requirement for this position. Any additional degrees in other disciplines such as administration, business or management would be an asset.  

Years of experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in railway system projects with experience at a railway core Subsystem manufacturer (OEM for Rolling Stock, Signalling, Railway Communications…) or System integrator.

Technical competencies:

  • Relevant technical experience in railway systems
  • Knowledge of system engineering lifecycle and key stakeholders in Hong Kong
  • Any experience in integration with other systems and infrastructure is a plus

Personal & soft skills:   

  • English – native or International Professional Proficiency
  • Chinese (Mandarin) – fluent
  • Chinese (Cantonese) – fluent
  • Must be proficient at writing clear technical reports in English
  • Must have aptitudes for teamwork on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Must be able to work independently, sometimes under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically in Asia for short-term assignments.
