Context

SYSTRA’s Mobility & Railway Business Unit is anticipating future growth, with new rail projects expected soon. To support these potential opportunities, we are looking for an experienced Coordination & Integration Manager to join our project teams and contribute to our mobility solutions. 

 

The Coordination and Integration Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and harmonizing all design coordination and integration activities for a major rail project during the design phase. This includes active engagement with multidisciplinary teams, subconsultants, and both local and international design centers to ensure consistent, timely, and high-quality design deliverables. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of steering large, complex rail projects and specific experience within the Middle East region. 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Design Coordination & Integration 
  • Lead the coordination of multidisciplinary engineering design activities across internal teams, external subconsultants, and geographically dispersed design centers. 
  • Develop and implement robust coordination and integration processes to optimize collaboration, design consistency, and compliance with project requirements. 
  • Monitor and maintain the master design integration schedule, tracking deliverable progress and identifying any technical or program risks. 
  • Ensure the technical integration and coordination of infrastructure and systems design for the project.  
  • Interface & Stakeholder Management 
  • Manage integration and interfaces between civil, track, systems, stations, architectural, and MEP design teams. 
  • Foster strong, proactive communication between all project participants, including clients, JV partners, subconsultants, and authorities. 
  • Organize and facilitate regular design coordination meetings, workshops, and technical reviews; document actions and ensure timely follow-ups. 
  • Bridge the gaps between the different Systra design teams involved all around the world to ensure the delivery of a consistent design.  
  • Technical Assurance & Quality 
  • Oversee the technical review process, ensuring all deliverables are compliant with international and Middle East standards, contractual obligations, and client expectations. 
  • Coordinate and manage the resolution of multidisciplinary interface issues, change requests, and technical queries. 
  • Information Management 
  • Support the management of the Common Data Environment (CDE) to ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation, clear version control, and efficient information exchange across all parties. 
  • Risk & Change Management 
  • Proactively identify coordination and integration risks, ensuring proper mitigation strategies and escalation processes are in place. 
  • Ensure robust change management processes, including impact assessments and stakeholder communication for any changes to the integrated design. 
  • Team Leadership & Development 
  • Mentor and support technical teams (including junior coordinators), promoting a collaborative and high-performance design culture. 
  • Assist with onboarding processes for new team members and subconsultants. 

Profile/Skills

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree (preferred) in Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline. 
  • Experience:  
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience coordinating and integrating large-scale, multidisciplinary rail or transportation projects. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and integrate work across local and international design teams, JV partners, and subconsultants. 
  • Significant experience with projects in the Middle East is highly desirable. 
  • Skills:  
  • Deep understanding of railway design processes, interface management, and industry standards (international and regional). 
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills. 
  • Proficient in collaboration tools and design software (e.g., BIM platforms, ProjectWise, Bentley, Autodesk, etc.). 
  • High level of organization and project management proficiency. 
  • Adaptable, diplomatic, and skilled at working in multicultural, multidisciplinary project environments. 

 

Desirable: 

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation. 
  • Experience with digital engineering and BIM integration. 
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
