Context

SYSTRA are immediately hiring for an Architect, based in our York, Leeds, London or Manchester offices. Following the successful award of multiple landmark international projects, this is an exciting time to join SYSTRA’s Buildings Team as we continue to develop and raise our profile in the UK & Ireland and across our global business regions. With a focus on delivering in the Transport and Sector; passenger stations, rail depots and energy from waste projects within the Architectural team SYSTRA benefits from being an integral discipline to this world leading multi-disciplinary transport design consultancy

Missions/Main Duties

The Architect is responsible for the technical coordination or various design packages under the stewardship of the project Principal Architect. The role will include technical development and delivery of design packages to ensure compliance with the project specific standards and client requirements.

 

  • Production of standard Architectural deliverables, design and studies for projects
  • Use appropriate industry standard CAD modelling software
  • Deliver specific packages of work to programme deadlines
  • Assist in the production of designs, drawings, schedules and calculations for design projects under the direction of a Senior Technician / Architect. Take responsibility for allocated tasks
  • Responsible for the production of designs, drawings, schedules and calculations for design projects and managing less experienced colleagues in delivery. Take responsibility for allocated tasks and coordinate supporting staff as required.
  • Direct and Manage in-house architectural technicians, other design disciplines and Architectural Partners to both client and business requirements.
  • Liaise with both architecture and wider multi-discipline colleagues to produce organised collaborative built-environment design solutions
  • Manage design input from Architectural partners and Sub-contractors/consultants
  • Provide technical assistance to site based personnel.
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings
  • Lead / Be Proactive in project meetings
  • Advising contractors and consultants on projects.
  • Responsible for co-ordinating multi-disciplinary design solutions during (typically) Technical Design, Construction and Handover stages of a project (Work Stages 4-8).
  • Work to achieve the agreed targets regarding the effective delivery of projects to current engineering and safety standards, within agreed timescales and budgets.

Profile/Skills

  • ARB & RIBA registered Architect
  • Experienced / Accredited user in either Revit / Microstation/ AECOsim. Fully conversant in CAD modelling to compliant standards and adopt company / sector specific protocols.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop / InDesign to produce quality graphical presentations
  • Excellent report and case study writing skills
  • Expected to have general skills in Microsoft Office suite of software packages
  • Experience of using common data environments for Design Consultant/Contractor/Client file sharing
  • CAD software used is both Bentley Microstation / AECOsim and Autodesk Revit
  • Robust knowledge of design and construction principles and standards
  • Motivated team player who works well under pressure and engages with colleagues
  • Be self-confident, but willing to continue learning with mentorship and critique
  • Be self-motivated, pro-active, inclusive attitude and expected to integrate with colleagues
  • Be well organised, with effective time management, work quickly and to client expectations
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal & written, with professional delivery
