Context

The Testing & Commissioning Specialist will play a pivotal role in ensuring that new rolling stock and system enhancements meet stringent technical, operational, and safety requirements. This specialist oversees rigorous testing protocols, coordinates multi-stakeholder commissioning activities, and supports the seamless integration of project deliverables into revenue operation, thereby safeguarding optimal system performance and lifecycle value.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Develop comprehensive test strategies and detailed commissioning plans in alignment with contractual, regulatory, and operational standards.
  • Define clear acceptance criteria and performance benchmarks for rolling stock and supporting systems.
  • Lead and supervise the execution of static and dynamic tests, including functional, safety, and interface verification activities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, engineering teams, and authorities to resolve issues that arise during testing and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure rigorous documentation and traceability of all test and commissioning records, in line with relevant quality assurance frameworks.
  • Monitor and verify compliance with technical specifications, safety regulations, and project-specific requirements.
  • Liaise across disciplines—operations, maintenance, engineering, and suppliers—to facilitate the integration of assets and systems into the broader rail network.
  • Support or lead troubleshooting and defect resolution, ensuring issues are comprehensively investigated and closed out prior to final acceptance.
  • Lead or contribute to the technical handover process, ensuring all deliverables, evidentiary documents, and training materials are complete and accessible.
  • Gather lessons learned and drive process improvements in testing and commissioning methodologies for future projects.

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical, System Engineering, or any related field.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience of relevant experience in similar rail projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in testing, commissioning, or systems integration within the railway, mass transit, or large-scale infrastructure sector.
  • Deep understanding of rail system functionalities, standards, and performance requirements.
  • Proficient in the development and execution of test procedures, using modern diagnostic and validation tools.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical thinker with strong documentation and reporting capabilities.
  • Effective communicator and coordinator, comfortable operating in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams.
  • Familiarity with safety assurance, RAMS processes, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with digital tools for test management and reporting
  • Preferably with UAE or GCC experience.
