Context

As a Indigenous Support and Liaison Advisor, your will act as a liaison between Indigenous communities and project teams in order to integrate environmental issues into railway projects, while respecting Indigenous knowledge and cultural protocols. 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Serve as a liaison between Indigenous communities and project teams, integrating environmental considerations into railway projects and ensuring culturally appropriate engagement.
  • Facilitate consultations, workshops, and transparent communication regarding environmental impacts, respecting Indigenous protocols and perspectives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental impact mitigation plans tailored to Indigenous contexts.
  • Inform and train engineering teams on incorporating Indigenous traditional knowledge and fostering respectful engagement.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare clear reports and recommendations, accurately reflecting the views and expectations of Indigenous communities.

Profile/Skills

Education : University degree (Bachelor’s) in Environment, Social Sciences, Indigenous Relations, Project Management, or a relevant field.

Years of experience : 5 to 10 years experience in a similar role.

Technical competencies :

  • Understanding of environmental and regulatory issues in the railway sector in Quebec.
  • Experience organizing public or community consultations.
  • Proficiency with office and document management software.
  • Basic knowledge of Indigenous law and community engagement policies.
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*
