Context

The Site Engineer – Signalling (ETCS Level 2) is responsible for the on-site installation, testing, and commissioning support of signalling systems compliant with. This role ensures that all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project and design specifications and rail industry standards.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Supervise installation and integration of ETCS Level 2 signalling equipment including balises, LEUs, RBC, GSM-R, APS (HBD, WIM, RFID, HWD...), Axle counters, Point Machines, shelters.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with relevant signalling standards.
  • Coordinate with civil, facilities, track, telecom, and systems teams/Contractors for interface management.
  • Support system testing and commissioning, including static, dynamic and integrations tests.
  • Work closely with T&C teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on-site.
  • Enforce health and safety protocols at site; conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments.
  • Ensure signalling installations meet safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain site records, installation checklists, and as-built documentation.
  • Report progress, site issues, and material needs to the Site/Project Manager.
  • Liaise with project engineers, design teams, and local authorities.
  • Support site audits, inspections, and reviews by clients or third-party assessors.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Railway Engineering (or related discipline).

Background:

  • Minimum (10) years’ experience in the required field of expertise for railway projects
  • Previous experience in installation and commissioning of railway signaling systems (mainline, metro, or LRT).
  • Familiarity with signaling principles, equipment, and industry standards (e.g., ERTMS, ETCS, CBTC, relevant EN/IEC standards).
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and site procedures in rail environments.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • GCC Experience.
