Context

The Principal Consultant - Commercial Management will play a vital role in our contracts and commercial team in Sydney. Your primary responsibilities will be centred around optimising the commercial aspects of our projects, ensuring that all contractual and financial matters are managed effectively throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Missions/Main Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Contractual Expertise: Utilise your extensive knowledge of contracts and commercial administration to provide crucial support to our delivery teams throughout the lifecycle of our clients' data centre developments. This includes assisting with contract drafting, variations, and all contractual correspondence.
  • Purchase Order Management: Take ownership of the purchase order process, from raising and generating purchase orders to tracking and facilitating approvals from both internal and external stakeholders. Ensure that this process is executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Cost Management: Serve as a super user for our cost management system, championing the process and collaborating with the development team to ensure accurate cost allocation and timely approval of purchase orders.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Collaborate with Contracts Managers to oversee all aspects of the contract lifecycle, including project kick-off, delivery, and close-out, ensuring that contractual obligations are met.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key communicator between internal and external stakeholders on contract and financial matters related to our clients' projects. Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Payment Coordination: Coordinate payments between the Development and Finance teams to ensure that contractors are paid in accordance with contract payment terms.
  • Reporting and Metrics: Assist in the development and implementation of reporting tools to measure key contract metrics, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Site Visits: Be prepared to travel as required to project sites for various purposes, including project initiation, reviews, audits, claims management, and project close-out.

Profile/Skills

About you:

  • Proven track record of successfully supporting projects in a contracts or commercial role, particularly in complex construction or civil environments.
  • Qualifications in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Business/Commerce.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate results.
  • Exhibit strong collaboration skills, the ability to work resourcefully, and communicate clearly and concisely with your team to meet project requirements and timelines.
  • Embrace an authentic and genuine personality, fostering strong relationships with diverse clients.
