Currently, we are bidding for Bangladesh Railways projects across India. The position of Underground Station Design Specialist is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Assist the Chief Resident Engineer (Civil) in coordinating to review and approve the Contractor(s)’ working drawings, shop drawings and drawings for temporary works. Also, review and approve in consultation with the Client, if any, design prepared by the Contractor(s) for any part of the permanent works;
  • Assist the Chief Resident Engineer (Civil) in supervising UG station construction works;
  • Be responsible for preparing new design or modifying existing design of underground stations as per Client’s requirement;
  • Assist the Employer in the bidding process for CP-03 and CP-04 if the engineering design consultant cannot provide assistance;
  • Check and review the Contractor(s)’ construction planning for excavation works for UG stations, including soil improvement, base concrete layers for ballast-less tracks, drainage and dewatering arrangements during construction, and permanent waterproofing of station boxes;
  • Coordinate with the interface management lead specialist on air conditioning and ventilation systems, including equipment, piping, platform screen doors, and sections between the underground stations;
  • Be responsible for assisting in establishing parameters for monitoring the behaviour of station boxes during excavation;
  • Supervise and advise the Contractor(s) on procedures to monitor settlement. Measure pen pressure, soil pressure, stress, deflection/rotation on diaphragm walls, and heaving of surface building foundations in relation to all underground works;
  • Advice on countermeasures for mitigating the effects on nearby
    structures, roads, houses and buildings;
  • Collect and compile data related to the works for the monthly reports covering the props of the works, including the construction schedule, quality, safety, and cost status;
  • Assist in resolving, countering or mitigating actual and potential claims from the Contractor(s);
  • Assist the Client in testing and Commissioning on completion of the stations;
  • Inspect, monitor and ensure construction safety during underground station works;
  • Assist the Chief Resident Engineer (Civil) in the preparation of various reports related to their tasks and
  • Any other related works the Chief Resident Engineer (Civil) gives.

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Civil Engineering or Architecture Engineering or equivalent
  • Must have a professional qualification as a civil engineer or other applicable professional qualifications
  • 15 years of professional experience
  • Must have proficiency in English
  • 10 years of professional experience as Experience an Underground Station Design Specialist, including one large-scale (>USD 0.5 billion) underground
    metro/railway project
  • 2 years of work experience in outside Expert’s country
