Context

Within the Rolling Stock division, the Electrical Engineer will work on various projects related to passenger and freight cars, as well as locomotives. He will create layouts of electrical diagrams, provide design instructions including schematics, wire routing, and material selection, as well as provide installation procedures and tests. This position requires someone that will develop electrical subsets such as distribution and control panels, transformers, etc. The Electrical Engineer will lead/work with the team to generate conceptual designs and shop drawings.

Missions/Main Duties

The Electrical Engineer will act within the engineering team to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Develop electrical diagrams for railway vehicles;
  • Provide design instructions for schematics, layout, specifications for wires, routing, and the load table;
  • Perform design analysis, calculations and generate technical reports;
  • Select hardware elements and other components;
  • Develop installation and test procedures;
  • On a per need basis, follow-up on site or in shops for the manufacturing and installation of the electrical components of systems;
  • Apply quality benchmarks against production, installation and validation processes;
  • Define and follow-up First Article Inspections;
  • Participate in formal trouble-shooting procedures;

Profile/Skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering;
  • 0 to 5 years of relevant experience;
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment;
  • Railway or transportation experience is an asset.

Technical & Other Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of electrical schematic software: SEE Electrical , Drafsight, ePLAN
  • Basic knowledge: Solidworks ePDM and/or Windchill PDM,
  • Working knowledge of electrical and transportation norms: CSA, NFPA, IEEE, SAE, APTA, FMVSS & FRA;
  • Ability to manage projects;
  • Experience with ISO quality governed processes;
  • PLC programming and proven industrial applications;
  • Ability to produce and read documents in English and in French;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office/365 (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Power Point etc.).
  • Hold a valid driver's license;
  • Availability to travel 10 to 15% of the time, mostly within Canada;
  • Be a member or CPI of the OIQ.
