Context

SYSTRA are looking to expand our Environmental team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Transpennine Route Upgrade and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.

 

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Environmental team, initially working as part of our Network Rail Southern Framework delivery project team, by recruiting an Assistant Ecologist.

 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Duties will involve field surveys for a major project from design through to delivery.
  • You will be planning, resourcing and leading ecological field surveys and producing quality assured ecology deliverables.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues from different organisations to deliver common ecological support for the project.
  • Working in a diverse work place that brings together professionals from across disciplines to develop client and people centred solutions for the problems faced, with a focus on integrity and honesty in everything we do.
  • The role requires a mix of office- and site-based work and will involve working away from home as and when necessary, so travel flexibility and a full driving licence are important factors. The role will involve contact with external clients, the public and many internal colleagues, so good communication skills and presentation are essential.
  • Use of Projectwise (or similar) to manage document transfer and receipts.
  • Record keeping and routine admin work as well as other duties assigned by the manager from time to time.
  • Control and management of the up-to-date version of specific documents
  • Working in more than one projects, roles and tasks.
  • Producing Health and Safety documentation.
  • Planning and undertaking ecological surveys
  • Producing a wide range of ecology reports
  • Habitat plans
  • Biodiversity plans
  • Protected species surveys
  • UKHAB and condition assessment surveys

Profile/Skills

 

    • Degree in Ecology or any relevant to environmental sciences degree,

      CIEEM membership
    • UKHab surveys, botany surveys and UK habitat condition assessments or protected species surveys and licencing knowledge
