Context

 

Following the ongoing success of our infrastructure team in Ireland, we are looking to appoint an Associate Director with expertise in the Highways and Development sector to join our dynamic and expanding team on high-profile highway projects.

This position will be based in either our Dublin or Cork office. The chosen candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Highways team throughout Ireland, delivering a diverse portfolio of multi-disciplinary traffic, highways, and infrastructure projects. In addition, the role provides an excellent opportunity to build strong relationships with clients from both the public and private sectors, playing a key role in the growth and future direction of our infrastructure team in Ireland.

 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Function as Project Director for transport infrastructure design projects across the business,
  • Project Manage a portfolio of schemes with control over project budgets
  • Manage staff in the preparation of outline, preliminary and detailed design projects.
  • Client facing and lead a team of Engineers to deliver projects on time and to budget.
  • Oversee teams in the preparation of contract documents, tendering process, and construction phase of projects
  • Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards
  • Manage the production of scheme deliverables
  • Assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders
  • Mentor and guide junior and senior engineers in their career development
  • Liaise with clients and ensure their requirements are effectively communicated to the team
  • Supervise team members across various office locations
  • Review technical documents and reports and assist in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Actively seek out opportunities, undertake work winning activities and secure workload for the team
  • Consult with Sector Directors across D&I and the wider business to identify opportunities and help shape the future direction of the infrastructure business in Ireland.

Profile/Skills

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 8 degree in civil engineering. Master’s Degree (level 9) is preferred but not essential.
  • The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIEI or equivalent recognised professional qualification)

Experience to Include:

  • Extensive experience of leading infrastructure development teams
  • Engineering management of major transport infrastructure projects with capital value exceeding €10 million
  • Technical co-ordination and integration of multi-discipline design inputs through full project life-cycle across multiple offices
  • Preparation of preliminary and detailed design for highways, drainage, and infrastructure projects.
  • Preparation of construction contract documents, supporting clients through the tendering & award process and providing client support during the construction phase
  • Mentoring staff and developing engineering capabilities across the business
  • Demonstrable knowledge/usage of Highway design standards and best practice in relation to designing streets, public transport and active travel schemes,
  • Demonstratable experience of adhering to the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013
  • Willingness to travel and possession of a full, valid driver’s licence
