Context

Are you interested in writing your thesis with us at SYSTRA Sweden? You're welcome to submit your application! When applying, please indicate which topic(s) you're interested in. Once we receive your application, we’ll review it and get back to you. During our follow-up, we’ll open to have a dialogue to adjust the topic, and you’ll have the opportunity to share your preferences.

Missions/Main Duties

We offer the following thesis subjects during Spring 2026.
The titles and questions can be adjusted to depending on your preferences and as agreed with your thesis supervisor at SYSTRA.

 

Suggested topics/questions:

  1. Challenges of implementing a GOA4 metro system in a new country
  2. Safety systems that need to be implemented in a GOA4 metro
  3. Challenges in providing public confidence in a driverless metro
  4. How to solve construction staging when building a new metro, considering differing timelines for civil works and traffic systems
  5. Research into the various automatic systems in a GOA4 metro, e.g., issues with platform screen doors if something gets trapped
  6. Image recognition of rolling stock components during inspection
  7. Traffic systems for Skåne – a solution that suits all types of trains
  8. Using AI in the design phase

Profile/Skills

We’re looking for someone curious about transport infrastructure and the technical consulting industry. You take initiatives, plan and structure your work well in both large and small matters, and have strong analytical skills. You enjoy collaborating and communicating with others, but are also comfortable working independently.

 

Qualifications

  • You are currently studying at a university and is eligible to write a thesis during spring 2026
  • Your field of study includes a specialization relevant to the thesis topic
  • You have excellent English and/or Swedish skills, both spoken and written – depending on the language of your thesis
  • If you’re studying a Master’s program or an engineering degree it is a plus

Location and Additional Information

Thesis work is not an employment; the thesis is written as part of your education. You must be eligible to write a thesis, as your school provides insurance and other coverage during the project. We offer equipment and a workspace at one of our offices, as agreed upon during the project start-up in dialogue with your SYSTRA supervisor.
