Context

We are seeking a highly specialised and experienced Senior RF Engineer to serve as a SME and technical lead within our advanced TCNBL. This challenging role demands deep, practical expertise in RF link analysis, wideband waveform performance, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC) as applied to tactical mobile communications systems.

Missions/Main Duties

You will primarily be responsible for the following highly specialised RF-centric deliverables:

  • RF Performance Evaluation:
    • Evaluate the performance of the RF elements for different Bearer Systems used in tactical environments.
    • Develop and support the implementation of detailed RF test plans and procedures.
  • Develop definitive radio system and RF-orientated TCNBL procedures.
  • Provide SME advice on in-service or emerging combat platforms from the electromagnetic interference and compatibility (EMI/EMC) point of view.
    • Coordinate engineering efforts with SMEs and stakeholders from other platform-related projects and organizations regarding EMI/EMC resolution.
  • Develop and coordinate operational analysis supporting TCN tests and trials.

Profile/Skills

Candidates must possess expert-level knowledge (SME advice) and hands-on experience in the following specific tactical communication technologies:

  • Expert-level knowledge of Multi-channel Manpack and Handheld Radio platforms designed for tactical environments (similar to the AN/PRC-158, AN/PRC-160, AN/PRC-163, AN/PRC-167, and RT-1915XF series).
  • Deep technical understanding of Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) waveforms including ANW2, EPLRS, and TSM (including TSM variations).
  • Ability to conduct desktop analysis and trials investigation of emerging wideband networking radios and waveforms such as TSM, MUOS, and WREN.
  • Proven ability to contribute to the development and deployment of Test Tools within the TCNBL, either independently or as part of a small software development team.
  • Support risk reduction trials and acceptance tests for land combat systems.
  • Experience with conducting Data and Configuration Management, maintaining documentation, and managing software and hardware baselines.
  • Strong track record of producing clear, comprehensive technical documentation for RF system designs and test procedures, including familiarity with Unified Modelling Language (UML).
  • Formal training or experience in the deployment and administration of large-scale virtualised environments (ESXi) is highly regarded.
