SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a new railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.

 

Context

The ALTO project is a major infrastructure initiative in Canadian history, aimed at developing over 1,000 km of new passenger rail service between major urban centers, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Participate in the technical design of building projects: architectural plans, construction details, drawings for building permits, etc.
  • Produce computer-aided drawings (CAD/BIM) using specialized software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
  • Prepare and update plans according to project modifications and requirements.
  • Conduct site surveys, compile field data, and produce site visit reports.
  • Take part in technical coordination with engineers, architects, and other disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical).
  • Participate in the drafting of technical specifications and the preparation of tender documents.
  • Ensure that plans and documents comply with current building codes and regulations in Québec.
  • Support project teams during various design and construction phases.

Profile/Skills

Education : DEC in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
Years of experience : 5 to 10 years of experience in a similar role.


Technical competencies :

  •  Proficiency in drafting software: AutoCAD, Revit; experience with SketchUp or other 3D modeling tools is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of applicable construction codes and regulations in Québec (CCQ, NBC, accessibility standards, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and construction details.
  • Competence in preparing specifications and technical documents.
  • Skill in conducting precise technical surveys and preparing reports.
  • Understanding of BIM and ability to work in a collaborative environment is an asset.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English*
