Our services cover the entire life cycle of the project implementation.

Currently, we are bidding for Semi High Speed Rail projects across India. The position of Chief Power Supply and Traction System Expert is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

  • System Design and Architecture: Lead the detailed engineering and design for the entire Traction Power Supply (TPS) system. This includes determining the optimal location, sizing, and configuration of Traction Sub-Stations (TSS), Sectioning Posts (SP), and Sub-Sectioning Posts (SSP), ensuring power quality and redundancy.

  • Overhead Equipment (OHE) Design: Be responsible for the complete design, specification, and installation methodology of the Overhead Electrification (OHE) system (e.g., 25 kV AC) to ensure dynamic performance, current collection stability, and pantograph-catenary interaction meets the requirements of semi-high-speed train operation.

  • Power System Simulation and Compliance: Conduct or review load flow and short-circuit simulations to verify that the system design meets all maximum and minimum voltage requirements under normal and emergency operating conditions (N-1 or N-2 failures) and complies with national and international railway standards.

  • Interface and SCADA Integration: Manage the technical interfaces between the TPS/OHE system and other railway disciplines, particularly Signaling (for electromagnetic compatibility - EMC) and the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system for remote control and monitoring of the entire electrical network.

  • Quality Assurance, Testing, and Commissioning: Define and oversee the rigorous testing and commissioning program for all electrical assets, including factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and integrated testing to ensure safety and reliable operation before revenue service.

  • Safety and Earthing/Bonding: Ensure the implementation of a comprehensive earthing and bonding system throughout the corridor to guarantee safety against electric shock and effectively manage return current, stray current, and electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Profile/Skills

    • Qualification: Graduate in Electrical Engineering with working knowledge of reading, writing and speaking in English [additional marks for PG in Electrical Engineering]

     

    • Minimum Experience: 20 years post minimum qualification in any Rail based Passenger Transit System [additional marks for more experience in any Rail based Passenger Transit System*]

     

    • Relevant Experience: 5 years’ experience for Design / Review and Implementation of High Voltage Substation, Power Distribution, Traction System, SCADA System and Dynamic Simulation of Current collection system for Rail Based Passenger Transit System as Chief Power Supply and Traction System Expert or equivalent position [additional marks for more experience; experience in position one level below allowed with less weightage]

     

    • Eligible Assignment**(see below): Must have experience of 1 Eligible Assignment as Chief Power Supply and Traction System Expert or equivalent position for a full-time continuous deployment period not less than 2 years [additional marks for more Eligible Assignments; less weightage for position one level below]

     

    *Rail-based Passenger Transit System shall mean

    • High Speed Transit System / Regional Rail Transit System (with operational speed of 160kmh and above) OR
    • Urban/Suburban/Intercity/Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) [excluding LRT with design PHPDT less than 20000/Tram/Monorail Systems]

     

    **Shall mean experience of working as a personnel of General Consultant / Project Management Consultant / Employer’s Personnel in a work / project in a Rail based Passenger Transit System with operational speed of 110 kmph or more and at least one eligible assignment shall be in Metro System for a minimum period of 3 years (without any limitation of speed) comprising:

    • Construction of Civil structures (at-grade/elevated/underground) AND
    • Installation of Systems (Track, Rolling Stock, Traction & Power Supply, Signalling)

    Including Detailed Design or Proof checking of designs; Bid Process Management; Project and Interface Management; Construction Supervision and System Installations and Testing & Commissioning
