We are seeking applications for the position of Coastal Zone Management Expert for GIS based Master Plan in Andhra Pradesh.

 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Coastal Area Assessment and Management

    • Conduct comprehensive studies of coastal zones, including the identification and mapping of sensitive areas, erosion-prone stretches, and high-risk flood/storm surge zones.
    • Analyze risks related to coastal processes, storm surges, sea-level rise, and their implications for planned development in coastal urban and regional areas.
    • Propose strategies for coastal protection, conservation, and sustainable land use, ensuring the safety and resilience of coastal developments.
  • CRZ Regulations Compliance

    • Ensure that all project deliverables and recommendations are in compliance with CRZ notifications of 1991 and 2011 issued by the Government of India.
    • Advise planning teams and clients on regulatory requirements and permits for developments in coastal zones.
  • Integration with Planning and Design

    • Support urban/regional planners in integrating coastal management components, such as buffer zones, ecological restoration, and enhanced resilience measures, into master plans and design concepts.
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, environmental scientists, GIS experts, etc.) to embed coastal management in the overall planning framework.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Capacity Building

    • Liaise with government authorities, regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to gather data, share findings, and foster project acceptance.
    • Lead awareness-raising and capacity-building activities on coastal zone management for project partners and stakeholders.
  • Reporting & Documentation

    • Prepare detailed technical reports, impact assessments, and management plans on coastal area management.
    • Provide mapping, data analysis, and technical presentations related to coastal zone management aspects of the project.

Profile/Skills

  • Degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, Oceanographic Studies, or a closely related field from an accredited college/university.
  • Having 5 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience in coastal area studies and management, including coastal erosion, sensitive area identification, storm surge analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of CRZ Regulations (1991 and 2011) of the Government of India is desirable.
