  2. We are seeking applications for the position of K4 - Safety Engineer (Civil) fo Mumbai Metro Line 10 & 12 Project.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) management plans, policies, and procedures specific to civil construction activities.
  • Ensure integration of safety protocols in all project phases, including site preparation, excavation, viaduct construction, foundations, and related civil works.
  • Conduct daily site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with statutory regulations, contract requirements, and approved safety plans.
  • Identify unsafe practices or conditions and initiate immediate corrective measures.
  • Ensure proper implementation of safety signage, fencing, barricading, and traffic management at civil work sites.
  • Carry out Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and recommend preventive and mitigation measures.
  • Evaluate new work activities and method statements to identify potential risks and ensure adequate safety controls are in place before work begins.
  • Report, investigate, and document all accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for incidents and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Organize and conduct regular HSE induction, toolbox talks, and specific safety training (e.g., working at height, confined space entry) for workers and subcontractors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and awareness among the workforce.
  • Develop emergency response and evacuation plans for the construction site, including fire drills and first aid procedures.
  • Ensure that emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, PPE) is available, maintained, and accessible at all times.
  • Ensure all construction equipment and tools are inspected regularly and maintained as per safety standards.
  • Monitor the distribution and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) among site workers and enforce non-compliance penalties as per policy.
  • Participate in HSE committee meetings and contribute to the continual improvement of safety systems at the site.
  • Ensure all construction activities adhere to local, state, and national safety laws (including IS codes, NBC, relevant acts and rules).
  • Encourage reporting of near-misses and positive interventions to foster a proactive safety culture.

Profile/Skills

  • Education qualification - Engineering Graduate / Diploma
  • Years of experience - 7 Years of Experience with Graduation / 10 Years of Experience with Diploma
  • Prior experience requirement - 2 - 4 Years
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences.
  • Ability to problem solve, especially in an integrated project delivery environment, applying industry best practices.
  • Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority
  • Strong leadership skills, proven ability to lead a team effort & make independent decisions and be a good troubleshooter.
