We currently have an opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic ecologist to join our growing environment and engineering team in Birmingham . This position within our team will suit a committed and ambitious individual who can demonstrate strong technical and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.

 

We are currently leading on a number of exciting and innovative schemes throughout the UK and Ireland, and Overseas including several flagship projects of national importance, including the design of wetland areas and other habitat improvements, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), and stormwater interventions that benefit local communities.

 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Conduct a variety of field surveys, including those for bats, reptiles, great crested newts, badgers, and birds.
  • Perform office-based tasks such as data analysis, cartography, report writing, and survey planning.
  • Prepare and complete Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Biodiversity Net Gain assessments, HMMPs, and Mitigation & Enhancement Strategies.
  • Input into Habitat and Ecological mitigation designs on large infrastructure projects

Profile/Skills

  • relevant professional experience from within ecological consultancy, demonstrating a broad ecological skill set and, ideally, holding protected species licences.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging wildlife policy and legislation in the UK.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with enthusiasm for ecology and environmental issues.
  • Committed to high professional standards, with an organised, motivated, and flexible approach to work.
  • Holds a relevant BSc and/or MSc degree, possesses a full driving licence, and has access to personal transport
