The multi-disciplinary services provided by SYSTRA in all projects comprising of feasibility study, design and engineering, bid documentation, tendering services, environment and social safeguards study, construction supervision and project management consultancy. The services also extended to business planning, policy reform, institutional and organizational restructuring.

We are seeking applications for the position of Climate Change Adaptation Specialist for Transport Infrastructure project in South Asia.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Assess the extent of climate change impacts on proposed project components across all design phases.
  • Lead the incorporation of climate resilience strategies into feasibility studies and detailed designs for infrastructure to be implemented under the project.
  • Integrate climate resilience into the National Coordination Committee’s (NCC) construction specifications.
  • Review and analyze recommendations from previous Technical Assistance (TA) reports, leveraging their insights to strengthen current and future design adaptations.
  • Work collaboratively with other specialists to embed climate adaptation measures into both physical (infrastructure) and non-physical (processes, policies) project components.
  • Partner with design engineers to identify, quantify, and document incremental costs associated with climate adaptation features within project designs.
  • Provide technical guidance and capacity building to project teams, stakeholders, and contractors on climate adaptation and resilience practices.

Profile/Skills

  • Master’s degree in engineering, Physical Sciences, Geography, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience in fields related to climate change adaptation and resilience.
  • At least 10 years’ experience addressing climate change issues, including climate-resilient infrastructure design.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working on donor-funded projects, preferably in urban development or infrastructure sectors.
  • Deep understanding of climate adaptation methodologies for urban infrastructure.
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
