We are seeking applications for the position of Social Safeguards Specialist for Transport Infrastructure project in South Asia.

 

 

Missions/Main Duties

  • Lead and manage the resettlement component of the project, ensuring compliance with ADB’s Involuntary Resettlement Policy and national regulations.
  • Provide training programs to the PMU and construction contractors to strengthen their capacity in managing and monitoring social safeguards. This includes sensitization on ADB’s involuntary resettlement policies, introduction to social safeguards assessment and required documentation, public consultation and participation requirements, project Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) and ADB’s Accountability Mechanism, as well as monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Oversee the work of the national Resettlement Specialist consultant, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of all Resettlement Plans according to ADB requirements. This includes responsibility for updating, editing, and finalizing all related documents, and supervision throughout the design, planning, and implementation stages.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with applicable Government rules and regulations related to social safeguards and resettlement.
  • Undertake other related tasks, as required, to strengthen social safeguard outcomes within the project.

Profile/Skills

  • Master’s degree in social science, Sociology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in social science, development, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of experience in social safeguards, resettlement, or similar roles.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working on donor-funded development projects.
