Context

We are seeking an experienced Planning/Scheduling Engineer to join a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team overseeing a major metro project. The role is responsible for developing, integrating, and controlling the project schedule across design, procurement, construction, testing/commissioning, and handover phases, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements, stakeholder interfaces, and project objectives. The ideal candidate has advanced Oracle Primavera P6 expertise, strong understanding of rail/metro delivery frameworks, and demonstrable experience in the Middle East.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Develop and maintain the master integrated baseline schedule in Oracle Primavera P6, including WBS/OBS, calendars, milestones, and activity coding.
  • Build detailed schedules for design, procurement, construction, testing/commissioning with robust logic ties and standardized coding.
  • Optimize sequencing and phasing to align with project objectives, interfaces, and access constraints.
  • Track progress against baselines; identify variances and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports, dashboards, S-curves, and schedule KPIs.
  • Conduct schedule risk assessments and scenario analyses to anticipate and mitigate delays.
  • Consolidate scheduling inputs across EPC contractors, consultants, systems integrators, and third parties (utilities/authorities).
  • Lead coordination meetings; validate contractor updates and logic integrity.
  • Maintain consistent coding structures for integrated reporting across packages.
  • Perform prospective and forensic delay analyses (TIA, windows analysis, as-planned vs. as-built).
  • Support evaluation of claims/variations, entitlement assessments, and time impact analyses.
  • Prepare clear narrative justifications aligned with contractual requirements (e.g., FIDIC).
  • Align schedule with cost control, risk management, and earned value management (EVM).
  • Contribute to the Project Controls Plan, progress measurement methodology, and risk registers.
  • Ensure schedule readiness for stage gates, regulatory approvals, and audits

Profile/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in planning/scheduling, with at least 5 years on metro/rail or complex infrastructure projects.
  • Proven PMC or client-side consultancy experience on large-scale GCC experience, Saudi based candidates preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 (including resource/cost loading, global change, activity coding, layouts, filters) and strong Excel/Power BI skills.
  • Solid understanding of project delivery in rail systems: civil structures, stations, depots, trackwork, MEP, signaling/CBTC, telecoms, SCADA, integration, and commissioning.
  • Experience with schedule risk analysis tools/methods (e.g., Monte Carlo via Pertmaster/Risk Analysis or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC or similar forms of contract and related time provisions.
  • Knowledge of EVM, progress measurement systems, and standard project controls frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to challenge contractor schedules and defend positions with evidence.
  • Oracle Primavera P6 advanced user certification preferred.
  • AACE, PMI-SP, or similar professional certification is an advantage.
  • Competent with MS Office, Power BI/Tableau (for dashboards), and common document control systems (e.g., Aconex).
  • Exposure to BIM 4D integration is an asset.
