Context

The Chief Signalling Expert K1 in the General Consultant (GC) team of a metro project oversees signalling system design, integration, and implementation to ensure safety and efficiency. This senior role, often seen in SYSTRA-led projects in Mumbai, demands expertise in CBTC and related metro technologies.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Review Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for signalling integration with systems like AFC, platform screen doors, and telecom.

  • Develop procurement strategies, manage bids, and proof-check designs against specifications.

  • Supervise testing, trials, commissioning, and statutory approvals while ensuring quality assurance.

Project Oversight Duties

  • Lead implementation supervision to meet timelines, monitor risks, and report to stakeholders.

  • Provide capacity building and knowledge transfer to clients like NCRTC.

  • Ensure compliance with metro signalling standards such as ERTMS, ETCS, or CBTC.

Profile/Skills

Candidates need 15+ years in rail signalling, a relevant engineering degree, and skills in managing contractors for large metro projects.
