Chief Safety Expert at K1 level represents the highest technical authority in safety for a metro project's General Consultant (GC)
Defines overarching safety frameworks, policies, and objectives across all project phases from design through operations, integrating standards like ISO 45001 and metro-specific regulations from MMRC or similar authorities. Provides executive-level advice to GC leadership and clients on complex risks, including system integration hazards during tunneling, electrification, or signaling commissioning.
Mentors K3 Chiefs and lower-tier teams (K4/K5), conducts independent safety audits, hazard analyses, and assurance reviews to ensure zero-incident compliance. Leads specialist investigations, safety case development, and stakeholder engagements with regulators for approvals and certifications.
Develops comprehensive safety management systems, risk registers, and emergency preparedness plans tailored to metro environments. Drives innovation in safety technologies and culture, reporting directly to project directors on performance metrics and continual improvement.
Requires a Bachelor's or Master's in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Safety Management, plus 25+ years in rail/metro HSE leadership, including international projects. Key skills include advanced risk assessment, safety case authoring, ISO 45001 expertise, regulatory liaison, and strategic advisory.
