Systra Canada is currently seeking an experienced Cable Design Lead to support the planning, design, and delivery of Light Rail Transit (LRT) projects across Canada.
To undertake Cable Design for an LRT Project
Diploma or degree in Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering or related discipline;
8+ years’ experience in the design of cable containment (trays, conduits, duct banks) for rail/transit or industrial projects;
knowledge of routing constraints, constructability, maintainability and separation requirements for power, signalling and communications cables;
experience coordinating with civil, structural, architectural and systems teams.
Required Technical Knowledge
Working knowledge of the following standards:
• Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC)
• CSA C22.1 – Canadian Electrical Code, Part I
• CSA C22.2 – Electrical Equipment Standards, Part II
• CAN/CSA C22.3 No. 7 – Underground Systems
Applied knowledge in:
• Cable temperature ratings
• Ampacity calculations and derating
• Conductor sizing (AWG)
• Wet-rated and sunlight-resistant cable requirements
• Pull box spacing and conduit fill limits
• Separation requirements for different cable types

Conduit, Raceway & Cable Tray Installation Standards:
• NECA 1 – Good Workmanship in Electrical Construction
• NECA 101 – Installing Steel Conduits
• NECA/NEMA 105 – Installing Metal Cable Tray Systems
