Context

1. In India, SYSTRA is an international consulting and engineering company operating in the fields of Metros, High Speed Rail, Railways, Roads, Buildings, Urban planning, and Water Infrastructure for public and private organizations.

3. We are seeking applications for the position of K1 - Chief Structures Expert (Elevated) for Mumbai Metro Line 10 & 12 Project.

 

Missions/Main Duties

Chief Structures Expert - Elevated will review and approve the preliminary and final designs of viaduct and structures. Review and approve detailed designs and ‘Good for Construction’ drawings prepared by DDC/D&B Contractor. Review and approval to modifications in approved plans, drawings and methodology that may be necessitated to change in field conditions during construction. Review and approval of designs and drawings of temporary works during construction of the project. Review and approval of “As build drawings.

  1. Lead structural design review and approval for elevated viaducts, stations, piers, and segmental construction, ensuring compliance with Indian Railway standards (IRS), IRC codes, and Metro-specific guidelines.
  2. Oversee multidisciplinary coordination with geotechnical, alignment, MEP, and architectural teams to resolve site-specific issues.
  3. Monitor on-site construction quality, safety, and progress; conduct risk assessments for elevated works and provide mitigation strategies to contractors and stakeholders.
  4. Approve technical submissions, drawings, and BOQs; mentor junior engineers and prepare progress reports for senior management and client.
  5. Review & supplement the detailed project report/concept report and all design reports as available
  6. Assistance in preparation of preliminary design and tender for elevated portions/stations and service buildings
  7. Assistance in preparation of Tender Document for procurement of DDC, Civil works and Track works Review/Preparation of Schedule of Dimension (SOD)
  8. Balanced cantilever, pre-cast segmental bridges and long span bridges comprising cable stayed and extradosed bridges.
  9. Review & proof checking of the detailed design and construction design
  10. Assistance in TESTING, COMMISSIONING AND TRIAL RUNS
  11. Preparation of Manuals for construction, administration, operation, and maintenance of Mumbai Metro.

Profile/Skills

  • Education qualification - Post Graduation Engineering
  • Years of experience - Minimum Experience: 25 Years, 
  • Prior experience requirement - Minimum Metro Experience: 5 Years
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences.
  • Ability to problem solve, especially in an integrated project delivery environment, applying industry best practices.
  • Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority
  • Strong leadership skills, proven ability to lead a team effort & make independent decisions and be a good troubleshooter.
