Context

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to support the safe delivery of Social Research, Evaluaiton and Behaviour Change projects, primarily for UK Government and other public sector clients, and primarily in the transport, environment, sustainability, decarbonisation and energy sectors.  You will be working within SYSTRA’s highly successful and growing Social and Market Research Team, alongside policy, transport and decarboisation specialists. You will be delivering wide rainging and exciting projects that reflect national priorities, as well as contributing to proposals and business development.  The role provides variety in an exciting envitonment and offers opportunities for professional growth and development.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Proactively support the delivery of projects of varying scales for a range of systra teams and clients, as required
  • Effectively Manage work packages and small projects (<100k value), ensuring client satisfaction, project margin, and DSO targets are met
  • Efficiently manage the delivery of successful proposals (<100k value), ensuring acceptance criteria and invoicing milestones are clear and appropriate
  • Ensure the delivery of complex tasks to quality, time and budget
  • Interpret and integrate complex technical information from a number of sources and accurately present conclusions
  • Regularly and effectively guide less experienced colleagues on the delivery of technical and professional tasks
  • Maintain professional membership of relevant professional institution
  • Effectively develop and maintain relationships with client contacts
  • Initiate sales opportunities within own market areas, sharing insights with relevant colleagues to maximise business development opportunities
  • Demonstrate high-intermediate knowledge in the application of a broad range of research methods, techniques and tools
  • Develop new tools and techniques in relevant work areas to improve quality and/or efficiency
  • Take responsibility for substantial proportions of SYSTRA reports
  • Effectively communicate information to internal and external stakeholders to support successful project delivery and business development
  • Present technical/project information as required to support the development of colleagues and inform  clients

Profile/Skills

Essential

  • Significant work experience in social and market research
  • Project management experience within a client facing role
  • Significant experience in both qualitative and quantitative research techniques, including designing and delivering, quantitative surveys; depth interviews; focus groups; public and stakeholder engagement /workshops/ consultations
  • Strong working knowledge of SPSS Syntax (Experience of R useful)
  • Effectively analyse complex qualitative and quantitative data and report on findings
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Effective written & verbal communication of complex messages
  • Effective time management of self and others
  • Adaptable to undertake a range of complex tasks to meet varying project requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of software packages relevant to technical discipline (s)
  • Relevant Qualification - degree level or equivalent experience. 
  • Making substantial progress towards Chartership or relevant Professional Membership
