Context

In India, SYSTRA is an international consulting and engineering company operating in the fields of Metros, High Speed Rail, Railways, Roads, Buildings, Urban planning, and Water Infrastructure for public and private organizations.

 

CTR – Regional Technical Centre of Systra India takes care of the international production of major projects at Systra Group level. CTR team has expertise in design of High-Speed Rail, Metro, Conventional Rail, Bridges, Highways, Depots, Stations and Transport Planning. Starting from Feasibility/Concept stage to Detailed Design to IFC/Shop drawings, the disciplines involved have experience of designing in accordance with various international codes and delivered projects across the world.

CTR team has successfully delivered some major projects in UK, UAE, Tanzania, KSA, Australia, Canada and Denmark. One of the major achievements of India CTR team has been the design of HS2 project in UK. We played an instrumental role in delivering 3 major Sublots on HS2 with our teams proactively engaging with Front Office in UK and delivering beyond client expectations. This resulted in India team receiving many accolades from the contractor BBV and client HS2. 

CTR team in India is proficient in working on multi-disciplinary projects integrating Design, BIM and Drawing production in a seamless workflow incorporating different software. The technical and management teams within CTR get an opportunity to work and interact with other CTR teams within Systra Group from Paris, Poland, Dubai, Philippines and Brazil.

 

Missions/Main Duties

The OCC SME will be responsible for the planning, design, and implementation of the Operations Control Center (OCC) for the High-Speed Rail project. The role focuses on ensuring efficient train operations, real-time monitoring, and coordination of all railway subsystems including signalling, SCADA, telecommunications, and power systems.

 

The OCC SME will define operational concepts, control center architecture, and ensure seamless integration of monitoring and control systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  1. OCC System Planning & Design
  • Develop the concept of operations (ConOps) for the OCC.
  • Define OCC architecture including:
  • Operator workstations
  • Video wall systems
  • Decision support systems
  • Incident management systems
  • Define the layout and ergonomics of the OCC control room.

 

  1. Integration with Railway Systems
  • Ensure integration of OCC with:
  • Signalling and Train Control (ETCS/CBTC where applicable)
  • SCADA systems
  • Power supply systems
  • Communication systems
  • Passenger information systems
  • CCTV and security systems

 

  1. Operational Procedures
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for train control and system management.
  • Define incident management and emergency response procedures.
  • Support development of operational manuals.

 

  1. System Monitoring & Control
  • Ensure OCC can monitor:
  • Train movements
  • Power supply status
  • Station systems
  • Tunnel systems 
  • Safety systems
  • Ensure real-time system visualization through integrated control platforms.

 

  1. Vendor & System Integration Management
  • Review vendor designs for OCC systems.
  • Participate in technical evaluation of OCC solutions.
  • Coordinate with signalling, telecom, and SCADA teams.

 

      6. Testing & Commissioning

  • Participate in:
  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
  • Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
  • Integrated system testing
  • Validate OCC functionality for operational readiness.

Profile/Skills

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in:Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or Railway Engineering or Systems Engineering
  • Required Experience :12+ years experience in railway or metro projects. 5+ years experience in OCC design or railway operations 
  • Experience with large control centers for rail or transport networks
