In India, SYSTRA is an international consulting and engineering company operating in the fields of Metros, High Speed Rail, Railways, Roads, Buildings, Urban planning, and Water Infrastructure for public and private organizations.

Systra India Systems team is looking for a Senior engineer - power supply having an experience of 8-10 years in designing of receiving substations,auxiliary substations and traction substations.

Missions/Main Duties

Senior Design Engineer (25 kV AC & 750 V DC Systems)

  1. Develop and review designs for traction substations, auxiliary substations, and receiving substations.
  2. Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards and project specifications.
  3. Prepare Design Basis Reports (DBRs).
  4. Develop single line diagrams (SLDs) and technical documentation for approvals.
  5. Conduct AC load flow, short circuit, and harmonic studies using ETAP software.
  6. Perform AC and DC relay coordination studies to ensure system protection reliability.
  7. Carry out detailed load calculations for traction and auxiliary systems.
  8. Perform earthing and grounding calculations in line with safety standards.
  9. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, signaling, mechanical).
  10. Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of power system design, protection, and analysis.

  • Hands-on experience with ETAP or equivalent power system analysis tools.

  • Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, and railway-specific standards.

Profile/Skills

  1. 8+ years experience in railway electrification or power systems
  2. Substation design
  3. Load flow analysis
  4. Protection systems
  5. Expertise in AC and DC traction systems (25 kV AC, 750 V DC).
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to prepare clear technical reports and documentation.
  8. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  9. Experience in railway/metro projects is highly desirable.
