SYSTRA has completed 17,000+ Square kilometer of Statutory Master Planning and 15+ City Development Plans (CDPs).

We are seeking applications for the position of Naval Architect in various cities across India.

Missions/Main Duties

 
  • Lead the planning, design, and technical review of vessels proposed under the Urban Water Metro Project.
  • Develop vessel design concepts considering operational requirements, passenger comfort, safety, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
  • Prepare and review general arrangement drawings, hull forms, structural layouts, stability calculations, and vessel specifications.
  • Conduct vessel performance assessments, including speed, propulsion, maneuverability, stability, and operational efficiency studies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable national and international maritime regulations, classification society requirements, and inland water transport standards.
  • Coordinate with shipyards, manufacturers, classification agencies, and regulatory authorities during design, construction, and commissioning stages.
  • Review vessel construction drawings, technical specifications, equipment selection, and contractor submissions.
  • Evaluate propulsion systems, electrical systems, alternative fuels, battery-powered propulsion, and other sustainable mobility solutions wherever applicable.
  • Support preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), feasibility studies, tender documents, and technical specifications for vessel procurement.
  • Conduct inspections during vessel construction and oversee factory acceptance testing, sea trials, and commissioning activities.
  • Assess lifecycle costs, maintenance requirements, asset reliability, and operational performance of the fleet.
  • Collaborate with marine, mechanical, electrical, safety, and operations teams to ensure integrated project delivery.

Profile/Skills

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture & Ship Building, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or equivalent discipline from a recognized university.
  • Master's Degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Design, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of overall professional experience in vessel design, shipbuilding, marine engineering, or naval architecture.
  • Must have experience in at least one (1) river vessel design project involving passenger ferries, inland water transport vessels, water taxis, water metro vessels, or similar craft.
